Where SaneBox is the better pick
- Your email isn't Gmail or Outlook. SaneBox works with iCloud, Yahoo, Fastmail, and any IMAP or Exchange server. Synced connects Gmail and Outlook only.
- You don't want to change apps at all. SaneBox sorts incoming mail into folders in your account, so the result shows up the same in Apple Mail, Outlook, or your phone's mail app.
- You want less data leaving your mailbox. SaneBox says it looks at headers such as sender, subject, and date, and never stores full emails or attachments. Synced reads full messages because it has to draft replies to them.
- You mostly need filtering and cleanup. BlackHole for unwanted senders, a Daily Digest of unopened unimportant mail, and Snooze are built for exactly that job.
Where Synced is the better pick
- The important emails are the problem. SaneBox gets them to the top; Synced writes the reply. For each new message Synced writes an Action Plan and puts the draft in Decide for approval.
- Replies need attachments or times. Synced can find a file in Google Drive or OneDrive and propose open slots from Google Calendar in the same draft.
- Requests come in outside email. Synced also connects Slack, Microsoft Teams chats, WhatsApp Business, Instagram Business DMs, Messenger, SMS via your own Twilio number, and GroupMe.
